FAMILIA

“Familia comes from the memory of the happy summers spent as a child in the family country house. The scent of fig trees, the earth so red and tactile, the characteristic cones of the Trulli: it all enchanted me. The Trulli themselves, one close to the other, reminded me a close family, that grows and grows united”. The coarse charm of ceramic evokes the texture of the earth and contrasts with the smooth finish of the wooden lid, the pinnacle of a trullo, here both in a masculine and feminine version....

FOOD DESIGN FOR HAPPY LIVING

Passion for design and love for one's country give life to a unique product dedicated to those who appreciate food-related tradition and culture. "Food Design for Happy Living" is a set of four white ceramic plates, designed to be colored by the ingredients served on them. Each piece features different grooves that imitate the traditional pattern of Vietri ceramics. Plates allow you to compose food in various ways and imitate a tile. The traditional decorative role of the plate is reversed: the food itself fulfills the decorative function. The user can produce a work of art according to his creativity. The project is inspired by the ancient traditions and reflects on these. It can also be designed to meet traditions of other countries. Used by several chefs to plate their creations, “Food Design for Happy Living” won the second prize in the contest "#WITH - design WITH food" by Promote Design. It was also was awarded the second place in the "National Award Convivium Design 2014" sponsored by Wine&Thecity, Pastificio dei Campi and ADI Campania....

TRAVASI

The production process of balsamic vinegar is long and laborious. Echoing the passage from one cask to the other, the “TraVasi” project triggers a game of tasting through the gesture of pouring. A series of hollow chocolates, which symbolize the casks of vinegar cellars, are laid down on a base at different heights. The tasting process begins after the balsamic vinegar is partly poured from one chocolate to the other. A Williams pear, originating in the same land of balsamic vinegar, can be placed inside the chocolates. TraVasi was developed in cooperation with Into the Food and Mario Peqini Patissier. It was showcased at Fabbrica del Vapore di Milano on the occasion of XXI Triennale di Milano, within the New Craft exhibition. The project was conceived by MAKEAT, an Opendot User Group who explored the combination of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar (Acetaia San Giacomo) and chocolate.   Ph. Claudia Castaldi...

BATH SET

Everyday objects applied to new contexts. A playful bath set to experience taste combinations of vinegar and chocolate. The gesture of dosage, the alchemy of two essences blending into each other, the anticipation of an unfamiliar flavor. Transformed into a sponge, chocolate absorbs vinegar and enables a taste experience that changes with the number of drops distilled. Bath Set was developed in collaboration with Mario Peqini Patissier. It was showcased at Fabbrica del Vapore di Milano on the occasion of XXI Triennale di Milano, within the New Craft exhibition. TAZZE IMPOSSIBILI

A trio of cups each characterized by a dysfunction: one with a jagged edge that prevents from drinking, another with a hole in the bottom that does not allow you to store any liquids inside, the third with the wall cut. The aim is to re-think the way cups are used. An ironic invitation to observe things from a different perspective, to discover new paths and opportunities....
